- How common were Mutual Aid Societies in Philadelphia? Why do you think it was this way?
- Why were freemason societies appealing to blacks?
- What role did black churches have in African-American communities (secular and religious)?
- What is the significance of the Mother Bethel AME Church? How is it different from St. George’s?
- What were some of the challenges facing the development and sustainability of black schools?
- What factors led to African-Americans establishing these organizations and societies? Address both internal (black community) and external (outside community) forces.

You will also need to accompany your flag with a description of the flag that includes why you chose the picture, colors, symbols, shape, etc...

4 - points for sticking to the "5 Rules of a Good Flag"
10 pts.

1. Keep it Simple
2. Meaningful Symbols and Colors
3. No Letters, Seals
4. Few Basic Colors
5. Make it distinctivef
